cPanel - Statistics
Retrieving& understanding your statistics through cPanel

Go to your hosting control panel. - Visit your hosting account Control Panel by going to http://yournewdomain.com/cpanel. [Make sure you replace the 'yournewdomain.com' with your actual domain name.] - Enter your username and password.

Open the statistics report. - On the Cpanel main screen, click the 'Web/FTP Stats' button [This is found on the fourth row] Next choose the statistics package which most suits your needs, we recommend 'awstats'. After clicking the option, the different statistics will now be displayed.
Note: If you are hosting multiple URL's on one hosting package you may need to look at your 'Subdomain Stats' to find the stats for the relevant site. These are also found on the 4th row and can be accessed in a similar manner.

Read the statistics. - The statistics will show the number of visits by country, month, day and hour, as well as referrers or URL's that directed a user to your website. You can also check the pages viewed by each user, each user's operating systems and browsers, their searches in your website, traffic by domain and traffic by file among others. Also worth examining may be entry/exit pages, total number of requests, traffic by domain & traffic by file.

Analyze the results. - WE recommend that you print out the report and review it on a regular basis. You can use the report to determine which part of your website is most popular and what needs to be improved or modified to increase your website popularity.

Downloading Raw Statistic files through cPanel

Go to your hosting control panel. - Visit your hosting account Control Panel by going to http://yournewdomain.com/cpanel. [Make sure you replace the 'yournewdomain.com' with your actual domain name.] - Enter your username and password.

Download the raw file. - On the Cpanel main screen, click the 'Raw Access Logs' button [This is found on the fourth row] Next select a raw log to download, Save the file to your desktop for further analysis.

Extract the raw data. - You will need to use an analysis program to extract the data from the raw file.
